Sworn Translation

Sworn translation for use in Brazil only: documents translated from English into Portuguese and signed by the sworn public translator on our team.

Sworn translation is for use in Brazil only. For USCIS or institutions in other countries, see Certified Translation. The receiving institution determines which format is required.

Use in Brazil

Sworn translation is for use in Brazil only. It is required when a Brazilian institution asks for a translation with public faith (fé pública) of a document in English. In Brazil, it is prepared by a Public Translator and Commercial Interpreter (Tradutor Público e Intérprete Comercial). It applies to civil, academic, corporate and court documents. The requirements for your case are confirmed before work begins.

Documents we translate:

  • Birth, marriage and death certificates
  • Diplomas and school transcripts
  • Documents for citizenship, visas and residency
  • Contracts, powers of attorney and corporate documents
  • Judgments and court documents

Our Approach

We receive your document and review its intended use. The sworn public translator on our team prepares the translation and is responsible for the signature and registration. Our client service team follows the request from quote to delivery.

Translation Contents

A sworn translation contains the full content of the document, together with the identification and registration details that give it the status of a formal act.

  • Name and signature of the responsible public translator
  • Opening and closing statements
  • Notes on seals, stamps, signatures and erasures
  • Translation registration details
  • Delivery on paper or in electronic form, as confirmed in the quote

Sworn Translation Structure

A sworn translation follows a fixed structure, from the identification of the translator to the signature and stamp. Select a part of this schematic sample, which contains fictitious data, to see its function.
